Fixed Income Boot Camp II

  1. From Intuition to Informed Decision Making

    The easiest part of public fund investing is buying bonds the difficult part is explaining why. This session illustrates the fundamentals of why investment philosophy impacts strategy.
  2. Finding the Yield Curve’s Sweet Spot

    Session provides students with a due-diligence process for determining the optimal portfolio maturity / duration.
  3. How to Profit from Taking Losses

    The session coaches students not only in how to manage a public funds worst fear, recognizing losses but also how prudently realizing losses actually increases the portfolio earnings for budget purposes.
  4. Bond modeling with Excel

    In this session students learn how to apply excel science to the art of fixed income portfolio management.

Instructors: Ben Finkelstein, CFA, author of The Politics of Public Funds Investing, and Kevin Webb, CFA speak nationally before state and local public finance and investment officials on variety of investment topics.

Participation: Ideal for very large groups as a pre-conference workshop; standalone division meeting; or concurrent or general session as part of a state or national conference. Minimum is 50 participants with no maximum.

Workshop Materials: Along with four hours of instruction, participants will receive a copy of The Politics of Public Fund Investment: How to Modify Wall Street to Fit Main Street; certificate of completion and written agenda to use for CPE credits.
